Pick of the Week: Artic Cat 400 4x4

Generally speaking, Artic Cat ATVs have a huge market share as far as mid-range ATVs are concerned. Combine their affordability with high quality parts - they have gained good ground on the ATVs that they produce and thus far, have a lot of ATV fans hooked. The 2007 model comes in three versions to meet the different needs of different ATV riders. The good thing is that there's an option for you to purchase the Arctic Cat ATV which is a single-seater or you can pick the Artic Cat that is a double-seater - the choice is yours to make. Accordingly, the price difference is roughly ,000. The other Arctic Cat 400 versions are ones with and without automatic transmission.

What others have to say about Arctic Cat 400 4x4 ATV

This ATV is more comfortable than we first expected it to be - the seat is extremely soft and comfortable to ride on making every ride you have on the ATV a smash! Most Arctic Cat fans say that the thing that they were most impressed with were the fact that it had a front lock differential - it's almost impossible to get stuck in this ATV. "One time, I was ready to bring on the winch but then I suddenly remembered that my Arctic Cat had front differential feature and within a heart beat, I was out. It was amazing", says Kenneth Mahon (35), a satisfied Arctic Cat ATV fan.

Cody Zimmerman (22), is absolutely in love with his Arctic Cat 400 and says that it's an AWESOME machine to have simply because of it's ground clearance. It's fast enough, safe enough, fun enough and can go just about anywhere a two-wheeler and four-wheeler can go. And Cody reckons that Arctic Cat gives good pricing for an ATV like this too!

Other reviews of Arctic Cat 400 4x4 ATV

However, it's not all beds and roses with the Arctic Cat because one problem we found was that the gears were set too high. For instance, the reverse gear was set so high that if you tried to reverse yourself out of the mud, you won't be able to because it won't have enough power to get the ATV out. Perhaps a change of tires would do the trick, so, it's all trial and error here.

Arctic Cat 400 is probably not the best machine to race on but it is definitely one of the best ATVs to own if you love get a little muddy! It's got the power to get the machine out of anything if you get the right tires and it's decently fast. But we reckon it's nothing a little modification can't fix. And for that price? Come on!

Six Best Sexual Positions to Get Pregnant Fast

What sexual positions are the best to get pregnant fast? Before we take this further it is important to know it is possible to get pregnant in any position. This is because pregnancy always happens when the male sperm meets up with the egg when its traveling to the uterus up to the women fallopian tube. But many couples find it hard to conceive and there can be several reasons behind that, including emotional stress, obesity, drugs and of course low sperm count but what is most important in this process is to get the sperm near the female cervix close as possible.

Toddler Travel Bed

But some agree that there are sexual positions to get pregnant faster and it makes sense when you think about it that some sexual positions can really make the difference this is because in certain positions the gravity will allow the sperm to leak out. The woman's hips should be positioned also in a way to keep the sperm inside to make more time for the sperm to swim to the female cervix.

Toddler Travel Bed

Missionary position is always the best because the gravity will assist the sperm to travel to the uterus where the egg will be and it allows the deepest possible penetration and sex position which has the women on her back will also increase the changes of pregnancy.

The spoon position is another sex position that is helpful to get pregnant fast and it is intimate and cozy position to be in this is where the women lie on her side curled in a C and the partner facing your back and curled around you then he enters the vagina from behind while you both are lying on your sides the spoon position will help the sperm to be put in the right place which will increase the change of conceive.

Another choice is the side by side position where you and your lover lie side by side, facing each other this position can be done anywhere. He will then slip his leg over yours and enters you from an angle. You will lie on your back and he on his side. Then you put the legs that are closest to him over his legs and he can enter you from the back side and still have his face close to yours which makes this position to be cozy and intimated.

The doggy style position is one of many favorites and the gravity is the key in this position which will help the sperm to get in the right place but this might not be a comfortable position to remain in for a long time but this position is very popular.

When you are having intercourse put a small pillow under your hips this will help the sperm more easily swim up through the cervix and after sex hold still for around 20-30 minutes this will increase the chances of getting pregnant.

Finally the positions to avoid are woman on top, standing or sitting - this is because it can cause the semen to leak and it may result in fewer sperm counts reaching their way to the egg.

Crate Training A Puppy Or Adult Dog

Many people, who unfortunately misunderstand the concept of good crate training, believe that crating a dog for any length of time is cruel and they refuse to even consider it. In fact, a crate really is a wonderful tool when used correctly. Crate training can be fun for the puppy if you make it a POSITIVE experience. I firmly believe it to be the fastest and easiest way to potty train a puppy or even an adult, previously untrained dog.

Toddler Travel Bed

The majority of new pet owners misconstrue the purpose of a dog crate. It is NOT used to punish a puppy; the puppy should deem the crate to be his safe haven. Once you recognize this fact, you will be able to utilize the puppy's den to your advantage and build up a proper potty training plan.

Toddler Travel Bed

When you have a new puppy or dog, you will use a crate to limit his admission to the entire house until he learns all the house rules. A crate is also a secure way of transporting your dog in the car, as well as an opportunity to take him places where it may not be appropriate for him to run without restraint.

Giving the pup special "treats" is a perfect way to introduce him to his crate. The only time the puppy receives these special treats is when he is in the crate; the treats become associated with the crate. Thus, when introduced and used correctly, your dog will think of his crate as his safe haven and he will be happy to spend time there when required. Basically, you need to think like a dog for this to work: normally, a dog never chooses a busy part of the house for his hideaway. He usually selects a dark corner off by himself where he feels sheltered and safe; maybe under a table or chair or between furniture where he is able to see anyone approaching. So, use this concept to your advantage, now that you understand the dog's purpose for the crate is that it becomes his "den" you can move forward. Remember though, repetition is essential. Your puppy will not understand what you want unless you repeatedly show him exactly what is required of him.

A dog will never make his den dirty. If a dog is correctly trained to love his den, his instinct will be to keep it clean. This is the foremost reason why a crate works in potty training. A dog should always be at ease and safe in his crate and above all he always desires to have a clean environment. A crate must be a positive place where your dog can find security and pleasure. An attractive crate makes for a welcoming den - a comfy blanket, tasty treats, and a favorite toy help to make the pup comfortable. Also very important, the crate needs to be in a place where your dog will not feel as if he is part of the family and not isolated.

Always feed the pup/dog's regular meals somewhere close to his crate. This will also create a pleasant association with the crate. Some trainers recommend actually feeding meals inside the crate; this too is fine, but my personal preference is to keep food dishes outside. An exception to this could be with a adult dog who initially views the crate negatively; placing meals inside the crate will be a great encouragement to him accepting it. After the dog is eating his regular meals in the crate with no sign of fear or anxiety, begin moving the dishes outside.

To sum up: using a crate correctly, establishes restrictions for your dog when you are away from the house and unable to keep an eye on his behavior. A crate is also a safe area for your dog to be if you're having company and you have a less than social dog. Another surprising advantage: dogs who are afraid of thunderstorms or fireworks, often find refuge in their familiar crate/den.

Normally a puppy follows a very definite "potty pattern": when he wakes up in the morning; immediately after meal; when he wakes up from a nap; after he has been playing, or after it has been a while since he last went potty. At each of these strategic points, take the puppy outside to take care of his business. A puppy can not hold it a long time so you must be trained to anticipate his likely needs. Look at it this way, you need to understand that the better trained you become, the better trained your puppy will be.

The last two dogs I have crate trained personally were a six week old female Dalmatian puppy and an adult rescued (badly abused) female Dalmatian. I began the baby in a comfortable, plastic travel crate, while the adult dog was put in a much larger, fold down wire crate. Both crates were situated in the kitchen/dining room which is the most occupied area of the house.

With both dogs, the following schedule was set up and followed faithfully:

Early Morning: Puppy/dog woke up in her crate; I immediately took the puppy/dog outside to the part of the yard we had designated as her "potty area". Right from the start I began repeating "Quickly, quickly, quickly", so that she would straight away associate the command with going to potty. Immediately she obliged, I praised her bother verbally and with lots of pats. We then returned to the house and the puppy was given breakfast and the adult dog was given a biscuit. After breakfast we both went back outside for the puppy to go potty while the adult dog went for a walk. Both dogs were then allowed to play safely for a while in the house, then back outside, potty, praise, return into the house, and naptime in the crate.

Afternoon: Puppy/dog woke up again; time to go outside. I immediately began repeating "Quickly, quickly, quickly", and pretty soon both animals obliged almost instantly and they were rewarded with lots of praise. Back into the house for lunch. Puppy/dog ate lunch the again went outside with me and went potty; lots of praise, then back into the house for playtime. The puppy indulged in lots of activity, while the adult dog socialized with us and explored the house. I allowed this for a given amount of time, then back outside to potty, then back into the crate for naptime.

Evening: Puppy/dog woke up and straight away went outside. Verbally encouraged, then praised, they both quickly went potty and knowing that they had done what was required of them, straight away looked to go back into the house for dinner. Dinner was eaten - back outside. Family social hour - back outside.

This routine WORKS. I will tell you with absolute honesty that in both instances, I didn't have to clean up a single "accident" with either animal.

At bed time, both animals had a last trip outside then were snuggled up for the night in their crate. When the puppy was very young, I set the alarm and took her outside once during the night. This nocturnal trip depends upon the age of the puppy and some babies may need to go out more than once during the night initially. This improves with age. Remember whenever he or she wakes you up in the middle of the night that your dog is reacting to your training and is actually doing the right thing by asking. Please be patient.

If you work, don't expect the puppy to wait 10 to 12 hours while you are gone. Make arrangements to go home for lunch, or have a neighbor or friend come over and follow the same routine of potty, praise, and play. As a puppy gets older and can hold it longer, the crate becomes less necessary. Just make sure that if you allow your dog freedom, he is still limited in a safe area. Check for electrical cords and unsafe "chewy" items. Better safe than sorry.

Remember, as your dog gets accustomed to his crate routine and enjoys the security of having his own space, never leave a puppy crated for longer than three or four hours at a time or an adult dog for longer than eight hours. If you crate your dog at night, you should make sure he has plenty of uncrated time during the day.

Even when the pup or dog is no longer confined to the crate, they continue see it as their "den", their refuge, and I keep it available to them with the entrance door propped open. Whenever they choose to go into the crate, make sure they are left alone; especially make children respect it as the pup or dog's private place. Dogs love their crates, when they remain available to them they prefer to use them, cuddled into their favorite blanket.

Crates are also a very useful tool to employ as a puppy becomes older and is going through the stage where it is losing its puppy teeth and chewing on everything. Then, it's a good idea to crate him whenever you are away from the house.

Proper crate training of a puppy shapes the puppy's behavior positively using his animal instincts to your advantage. Surely, this is much better than accidents on your floor. Remember above all else to be tolerant and consistent in your training. Love your puppy and give him lots of praise when he does it correctly. Dogs love praise; they thrive on it and positive reinforcement works every time.

Remember though, crate is NOT a magical solution. If not used correctly, a dog will feel trapped and frustrated. As an example, if your dog is crated all day while you're at work and then crated again all night, he's definitely spending far too much time in much too small a space. Also remember that puppies under six months of age should never stay in a crate for more than three or four hours at a stretch. They can't control their functions for longer periods.

If your dog whines or cries when crated at night, it may be difficult to decide whether he's whining to be let out of the crate, or whether he needs to be taken outside to eliminate. Try to ignore the whining for a few minutes. If your dog is just testing you, he will probably stop whining soon. Yelling at him or pounding on the crate will only make things worse and will definitely destroy the dog's confidence in your training. If the whining continues after you've ignored him for several minutes, use the phrase he's learnt to associate with going outside to eliminate. If he responds and becomes excited, take him outside. This should be a trip with a purpose, not play time. If you're certain that your dog doesn't need to eliminate, the best response is to ignore him until he stops whining. Don't give in, otherwise you will just teach your dog to whine loud and long to get what he wants. If you've progressed slowly but surely through the training steps and haven't done too much too fast, you will be less likely to encounter this problem. If the problem becomes unmanageable, you may need to start the crate training process over again.

You need to be certain the crate is the correct size for the pup/dog. If it is too big, the pup may try to use part of it as a bathroom and this is something you definitely need to avoid. The crate needs to be big enough to allow the dog to stand up and lie down comfortably. If you know your dog is going to grow into a big dog, then consider getting a divider so you will have the proper size crate in the beginning and it can grow along with the dog!

Location is also immensely important. You must be able to hear the pup. If the pup is whining, he probably needs to go potty and should be taken out. Remember the routine outlined above. The crate should be in a room where there is activity.

Crates may be plastic (often referred to as flight kennels) or collapsible, metal pens. They come in different sizes and can be purchased at most pet supply stores as well as online. All have pros and cons, including cost, ventilation, clean-up, etc.

Expat Life in Sri Lanka, Colombo

I recently visited the wonderful island of Sri Lanka, and found a country full of surprises.

Toddler Travel Bed

Sri Lanka is situated just south of India, in the Indian Ocean. Once known as the Dominium of Ceylon and often referred to as the tea country, tea plantations abundantly thrive across the island, with spice gardens, banana and coconut palms growing randomly to create a jungle of natural resources.

Toddler Travel Bed

People, animals and transport seem to co-exist side by side with no animosity towards each other. Dogs wonder aimlessly across or bask in the sun at the side of roads, cows and goats roam around everywhere, even on the beaches (which I found rather amusing) and people are everywhere, whether walking, cycling, using a tuc-tuc, motorbike with 5 astride, in a taxi, bus, car or truck, each takes up a space of the not too wide road. But co-exist they do, there is no anger at being stuck behind a truck, merely a short hooting of the horn to say I am here and would like to pass, politeness abounds and the expression and sounds are all of friendliness, within a country that sorely needs help at redeveloping itself since the tsunami. People are poor and yet happiness is everywhere.... Not just for the child on the hip or the person at their side, but for expats and tourists as well.

Tourists fluctuate towards the resorts and some chance the areas slightly outside of these areas, to experience a quieter less harassed holiday. Small pockets of expats can be found, dotted all over the country. When you bump into these people and chat about life on the island, there is not much to complain about. Yes, sometimes the water gets turned off or the electricity, yes the internet is not as fast as they would like it to be. Isn't that how most people feel in developed countries anyway: The faster it gets the faster we want it. In this little piece of paradise, expats are not too concerned that it takes a little longer to do things here, the people are prepared to wait, not too hasty to move forward too quickly. There was a lot of talk and concern about the elections and safety within the country and there are still road blockades and police / army personnel with guns wandering around keeping peace if necessary. However, with 70% of the population being Buddhists, the lifestyle is peaceful and life simplistic.

From an expat perspective, I could not fault the lifestyle. As said above, yes there are definite things missing, things are slower, it takes a good 4 - 6 hours to get from Colombo to Galle and similarly to anywhere about 200km's apart. I cannot say that the roads are particularly in good condition, but in the 10 days that I visited, I did not see one accident. Hardships could include the lack of being able to get from one part of the island to another quickly, the lack of fast internet connection, perhaps the human waste / refuse, which allows for the influx of flies, the dirt which is left to lie around and lastly the lack of funds to rebuild the country to what it was before the Tsunami.

Having said that, I have to look at all the good things that you find there, the beauty of the natural resources, how the nationals and expats are trying to rebuild the country, the beaches, game parks and mountains. This is truly a beautiful part of the world.

Expat Cost of living summary

The currency in Sri Lanka is the Sri Lankan Rupee LKR

The Exchange rate as at 15 January 2010 was = 114.217 Rupees

I am going to break the Cost of living down according to some of the basket items:

Cigarettes (20s) - .14 to

Domestic Beer(500ml) - .50

Imported Beer (330ml) - .80

Wine at a bar - a glass

Hotels tend to increase the prices of alcohol as it is the one way that they can make a profit. There are many small hotels and restaurants which create a competitive edge to where you can stay.

Casual Long Sleeved Trousers (Men) -

Casual Blouse (Women) -

Casual Skirt (Women) -

Children's Jeans (Boys) -

Children's Jeans (Girls) - .50

Children's Shirt(Boys) -

Annual Creche fee - .36 per month

Annual Primary school fee - 0 - 6 per month

Annual High School fee - 0 - 6 per month

Expats that I came across spoke highly of the education system in the country and were happy with the private education that their children were receiving.

Hard cover books are expensive in the country, but paper back books are of a similar cost to the US and UK. Cinema tickets are cheap due to the availability of cheap DVD replicas which can be bought on street corners. International cricket tickets are also kept cheap for the local population.

Restaurants / Meals out / Hotels: Business Dinner, Dinner at Restaurant (non fast food), Hotel Rates, Take Away Drinks & Snacks (fast Food)

As in most countries how much you pay for a meal is dependent on where you go, the local restaurants have great local meals, as well as international flavours, we found a fabulous vegetarian restaurant in Galle, well worth a visit and all prices were fairly cheap. Some restaurants do take advantage of the tourist population and serve sub standard meals. However, most restaurants were good with their portions and meal plans.

Transport: Hire Purchase / Lease of Vehicle, Petrol / Diesel, Public Transport, Service Maintenance, Tyres, Vehicle Insurance, Vehicle Purchase

Hire / Lease car - Sedan Toyota Corolla - .14 per day for 1 week

The above detail are some of the items form the basis of the cost of living indexes for each basket group in the Xpatulator calculators, these costs are then used with their indexes and exchange rates to calculate the cost of living in different locations.

After the Baby - Tips For Making Your Marriage Last

While being a parent may truly be the most difficult but most wonderful job, you don't have to compromise your romantic life because you want to be an effective parent. Remember that for you to be a fully functioning parent, you have to be a role model and show you can take care of your marriage as well.

Toddler Travel Bed

Because of limitations particular to managing time for their little ones, some spouses find it almost impossible to preserve a healthy love life in their marriage.

Toddler Travel Bed

Here are some suggestions on how you can have romantic moments in your marriage despite the time-consuming nature of parenthood:

• Prepare romantic events with your spouse. Days inside the house watching over your kids can really drain you and you may not have enough time and energy to venture forth and have fun. But at least every two weeks, have a leisurely and sensual date to keep the love burning and the eagerness between you and your mate. Make it a quality couples event, where it can be a romantic dinner or a picnic for the two of you.

• Sneak out for a lunch when you can. Shared meal times at the house can focus on the family, while your separate lunches can truly be conducive for a healthy and lasting marriage you both can work on.

Go for a meal at your husband's cafeteria or bring your home-cooked meals to the office so you can save a few dollars for your next night out.

Whether you decide to be casual or to be fancy, what is special is that you get to spend a meal together, just the two of you.

• Cuddle and talk after the little ones have gone to bed. When the little ones are off to sleep, sometimes moms and dads go off to sleep as well. But take some moments for some quiet but partner-focused times where you can find some time to solidify your relationship.

• Share everyday chores and jobs. Do a crossword together. Go to market together. Work on the garden together. Sit at the table and watch the news together. Take each opportunity as a chance in improving your household and to grow your relationship as well.

As you are giving it your all to be an exceptional parent and grow a good relationship with your offspring, you should also be tireless in making your adult relationship the best it can be. All family relationships call for regular maintenance and support from both spouses.

As with every relationship that's important to you, you ought to give the same status and attention for both.

But most of all, always keep in mind first to be kind to yourself. If your needs are met, you can meet the needs of your relationships. Only by loving and taking care of daily needs will you be able to come up with ways to grow your most important relationships from day-to-day. Your happiness and love can absolutely glow through everybody in your home. So look forward to a wonderful and long-lasting marriage and family!

How to Get Your Child Off the Bottle

Does getting your child off the bottle seem impossible? I know how you feel like. Sucking on a bottle is how our children learn how to feed themselves, creating the sense of a ''security blanket'' for them. So when do they actually stop NEEDING it? How to tell the difference between needing and wanting? Don't worry, all it takes is a little endurance and some patience. Depending on how old your child is and how often he or she gets a bottle will affect how long it will take him or her to let go of it. First of all, I can assure you that in most cases, and by that I mean an average healthy child, you can stop all bottle feeding around 12 months. I know it seems young, but trust me, they do not physically need to feed of a bottle at night after that age, and you should not give them a bottle during the day at that age, for the bottle can have a negative effect on teeth and gum development. So start with that. No bottle whatsoever during the day, no even for nap time. You can use it to put your child to sleep, but there is a trick. Do not let your child FALL asleep with the bottle in his mouth. Give it just to provide him with some comfort. Replace its usual contents with water, it will help for a smoother transition.

Toddler Travel Bed

With that in mind, the first few nights should be relatively easy. After 2 or 3 nights, put your child to bed without a bottle. This will ask a lot of strength for you not to give in, but it will be worth it. My daughter not only needed a bottle to go to sleep, but also several times during the night, which would give my husband and I awful sleep time and would often make her wet her bed from drinking too much. It is really primordial for you to succeed not to give in, no matter what. Be assured, past a year of age your child is not hungry, he simply needs the comfort that the bottle brings him. You need to have some patience and be willing to have a bad few nights, but I guarantee it will be worth it. Especially if you put juice in your child's bottle. Even 100% juice can cause tooth decay and tartar deposit on the teeth. When your child starts crying for his bottle, just go comfort him or put him back in his bed depending on the case. Sooner than later you will wake up refreshed to realize your child has spent a whole night without asking for it. After that first night, just make sure you keep with the program, it is very important not to give in, which would only make it twice as hard for your next try. Good parenting!

A Parent's Survival Guide to a Disney World Family Vacation

Disney World is one of the most magical places on earth. Even the most cynical adult will lose their inhibitions and dawns on the famed mouse ears while there. Taking a family vacation to Disney can prove to be wonderful and exciting. It can also be stressful, especially with children involved. To survive the trip and have lots of fun along the way, here are some tips that you should follow. Family vacations are a time to reconnect with our kids and escape our everyday lives. What better way than to vacation in Disney.

Toddler Travel Bed

Let the kids pack

Toddler Travel Bed

Let the kids help pack their suitcase and carry-on. This will let them become part of the vacation planning. They need to understand what is going on. By all means pack the things you know they will need, but let them have a little say in what goes into the luggage. Let them pack their favorite sleep item for night time and plane travel if young. Talk to them about it. Ask your travel agent for a Disney brochure, or order the Disney video and watch it with them. Have them pick rides they think they will want to ride, talk about the characters.

Plan ahead of time

Disney Is not the kind of family vacation that you can go on without prior planning. Avoid long lines at the ticket booths by preordering your ticket or buying them at your local Disney Store or triple A office. Make sure you know how crowded it will be. Do not go in July and expect 15 minute lines. The Summer months and school holidays are among the busiest months of the year and lines can be upward of 60 minutes or more. End of August the lines and crowds start to diminish as schools around the country start going back. One July 3rd we walked by Toy Story Mania that had a 160 minute wait! If you must go in the summer go at the end of Aug if possible. If you are going to do character meals, Holiday party or event (pirates cruise or Bippidy boppity boutique etc...) book those early to make sure you get dates and times you want. Learn about fastpass, and early and late hours for those staying at Disney World Hotels.

Take regular breaks

Disney World is huge. There is no way you can see the whole 127,000 acres of the theme park in a couple of days. If you are taking a short trip, plan to return another time, or make a list of must do rides. Do not try to see it all in under 7 days. You need at least a week or two to see most of what Disney World has to offer. This is why, taking breaks is extremely important. Especially in the summer when it gets very hot and very crowded around mid-day. Even though you want to see the rides and attractions of Disney World, you have to get occasional rest so that you can recharge and rejuvenate. Return to your resort and take a plunge in the pool. Go to Downtown Disney, or a water park for a few hours. If you rush yourself into seeing everything, you will easily get drained and it will become more difficult for you and the kids to enjoy the trip. The more tired and drained you are the more frustrated and grabby everyone gets. Make sure that you take a few-minute break every hour to recharge. Drink plenty of water to keep you and the kids hydrated.

Pack your snacks, drinks and essentials

Pack ample amount of drinks so that you don't have to look for a drinking station whenever one of the kids gets hungry or thirsty. The same thing goes or the snacks. Bringing your own snacks will save you time because you won't have to look for snack, and save you a great deal of money (which can go to for a bag of Disney chips). If you have a fridge in your room freeze water bottles and put them in your backpack each day. Individualized chips, fruit snacks, crackers, can also be packed and stored in the back pack. As you know, food and drinks are expensive in the parks. Many hotels and resorts have services that deliver water, juices and other items to your hotel room. Many airport services to Orlando offer you a 30 minute grocery stop for free. Even at some Disney resorts you will find some convenient types stores to buy water, snacks and incidentals. Save tons of money by buying Walmart disposable raincoats for under . Bring sunblock from home as well as Tylenol, band-aids and essentials.

Bring strollers

If you have young kids with you, bring your own stroller. An umbrella stroller has it's advantages because it can be folded and is very light weight. Bringing your own umbrella stroller will also save you money because renting at the park. The park strollers are bulky and can get very hot from the sun. Your own stroller will enable you to move around the park with ease. Your toddler will thank you and be less agitated if he has a place to rest when needed. It also helps with the items no one wants to carry. This means that the stroller will not only be beneficial for the kids but for you as well. If you do not want to bring your own stroller, then consider renting one from the small companies popping up that rent very nice, affordable, comfortable strollers at a fraction of the Disney World rental price. Remember that a family vacation is for everyone, not just the kids. Three hours with a sleeping toddler on your shoulder while the older kids have fun is not my idea of a fun family vacation.

On-site vs. Off-site

If you are staying off site look for a kid friendly Orlando hotel or resort. Look for a kid-friendly Orlando hotel that would allow your kids to sleep comfortably. Many hotels now have kids quarters with bunk beds or small rooms near the regular bedroom for the kids. Hotels off- property will save you money, but you must offset that with the cost of renting a car, tolls and gasoline. Also, there are special park times only available to guest staying on Disney property. If you want to stay inside the park, look for a Disney hotel that fits your budget. Disney has many discounts and sales and the value resorts on property are very reasonable. You save in transportation costs, as Disney picks you up at the airport and returns you there for free at the end of your vacation. Transportation to the different parts and venues is free with a park tickets for all. If you have little ones it is so much easier to return to your resort when inside the park and you only hop a bus to get there.

Overwhelmed Yet?

There is still other Orlando attractions worth looking into to. Sea World, soon a new LegoLand and Universal Studios and Island of Adventures are great parks in their own right. If this has your head spinning use a travel agent to help you sort out prices and compare resorts to find what best suites your family. You do not pay them, the supplier you book through does, and they often have special others don't.

Last minute things, bring extra socks, plastic baggies to put wet items in. Flip flops for pools and something to carry your water, food and essential into the parks. Don't forget your camera, you won't want to miss a minute of it.

High Blood Pressure and Air Travel

Blood Pressure And Flying

Toddler Travel Bed

Are you taking blood pressure medication? Are you worried about flying? Well then the news is good. If you have high blood pressure that is controlled by medications, flying is just as safe for you as any of the other passengers on board. There is no evidence that any prescription medication for hypertension will affect your health when flying. Airplane cabins are pressurized so a passenger with high blood pressure is in no danger from a health view point.

Toddler Travel Bed

The things to consider when flying with high blood pressure problems are more along the lines of developing a sudden medical problem while 40,000 feet above the ground but hey - anyone can suddenly have a heart attack or asthma attack without warning so blood pressure and flying should not be a reason to keep anyone grounded.

But if you have problems with hypertension and if your BP is not being properly controlled by medication, then its best not to fly until your doctor gives the go ahead. This is not because flying will increase your blood pressure but more because of the potential stress factors that await all travelers. Just think: delayed flights, long security lines, missing your connection, hassles at customs, the outrageous price for a bottle of water, the kicking screaming child in the seat behind yours - the list goes on and on. All of these can cause stress and stress, of course, will increase your blood pressure!

Deep Vein Thrombosis and Flying

DVT or deep vein thrombosis is more of an issue for people with high BP while flying. DVT is a blood clot that develops in the legs. People who experience DVT as a result of flying are more likely to have traveled a long distance and travel frequently. They do not necessary have to have a preexisting condition such as hypertension but if you do have higher blood pressure than normal then you might be more at risk.

If you develop a DVT then the treatment is bed rest with the leg elevated above their heart. Anticoagulants will be prescribed to thin the blood clot as well as clot dissolving medications. The blood clot should be gone with in 48 hours after receiving the medication. In the event that a complication arises such as an embolism (a piece of the clot that breaks away from the thrombus and travels through the body) then surgery will be required to save the patients life. The main concern with the embolus is that it reaches the lungs and becomes a pulmonary embolism - this can be fatal if treatment is not aggressively and promptly delivered.

The best way to avoid a DVT while flying is to walk up and down the aisle of the plane every half an hour or so. You might also want to buy some flight socks to improve your circulation and stop the blood getting static in the veins.

Just because you suffer from high blood pressure does not mean you have to stop doing the things you enjoy. Take it one step at a time and get your BP under control with medication, change your diet and start exercising; eventually, you may be able to eliminate the medication if you stick to your lifestyle changes. In the meantime, do all that you can to try and remove stress from your life and take the time to enjoy life!
